Fried Noodles
To celebrate the "Year of the Dragon," we made fried noodles for our snack. In the Chinese culture, noodles is a new year's tradition and represents long life. Each child helped to slice up the fish cake (kamaboko) and hot dog. We cooked each item in the "wok" and mixed it all together!
Chinese Culture
Getting ready for the Chinese New Year! Finished watercolor painting our dragon mask and cut/created our Chinese lanterns!
Spam Musubi…YUM!
Welcome our room 2 "Chefs." We had a hands on experience in making our spam musubi for snack. Each child made their own spam musubi by putting in rice, spam and rolling it all together with the nori. The end result was DELICIOUS!
Happy New Year!
The children are getting back into the routine at school. We continue learning about "Community Helpers" this month. We discussed about transportation (the various types of vehicles: that takes you from one place to another) and the importance of following the traffic lights on the streets. We discussed about "Firefighters," dialing 911 for emergency and the various types of emergency vehicles on our roads. We also easel painted, "New Year" drawing activity for our Portfolio Binders, explored theme related puzzles (firetrucks, police officers etc..), traffic lights (cutting activity) and build structures in the block center all these activities help to improve their fine motor skills.
